Ryanair Settles First Compensation Claim for Approximately €40,000 Following Emergency Landing and Passenger Injuries

The initial case in a series of legal actions against Ryanair, concerning injuries reportedly suffered during an emergency landing, has been resolved with a settlement of approximately €40,000.

The claims originate from an event on a flight from Dublin to Zadar, Croatia, when the aircraft experienced a loss of cabin pressure.

This sudden depressurisation necessitated a rapid descent by the flight crew. Oxygen masks were deployed as a safety precaution.

German police reported that 33 out of 189 passengers required hospital treatment, with some experiencing ear bleeding, following an emergency landing at Frankfurt Hahn Airport on 13th July 2018.

An interim report issued by the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation classified the event as a “major incident.”

The incident prompted numerous lawsuits. The first of these to be heard in court was settled yesterday, with the airline making no formal acknowledgement of responsibility.
